2016-07 Trying to "be a temporary local" but we sure don't look like a local.
Looking like a temporary local is harder than I thought. Even though I am wearing long pants, a collared short and regular shoes, I get the - you are a foreigner look. Part of the problem is Beth. Here blond hair, fair skin, and ready smile, is in stark contrast to the dark completion and black hair of most south Americans and Africans. Smaller kids……..especially the girls, continue to want to get their picture taken with her. We have been stopped maybe 25 times for pictures, conversation, and questions about where we are from. That’s not counting the scores of times we are stopped with people trying to sell us things. Bud
