Hi.

We are Bud and Beth. We sold most of our belongings (stored the rest) and hit the road for one year around the world. Follow our adventure as we go to 26 countries and 45 cities (give or take a few) in one year.

Our hostel in Bangkok Thailand.

Our hostel in Bangkok Thailand.

In Bangkok Thailand, we stayed in a Hostel for $25 a night. Believe it or not that is a high price for a hostel in this area. We choose it because the ratings were more numerous and much better than their competitors. The place had a real industrial feel with an open stair case in the center, lots of concrete and metal handrails. The feel was modern and open. It was absolutely spotless clean and everything was in perfect running order. The showers even had hot water which is not always the case in some places. It was also nice because they had an in-house travel company to help set up day trips in the area. Another benefit was the tour desk could answer any questions about routes to take, places to see and there was no sales pressure. We worked with three different employees and all three where very knowledgeable. We were so impressed we went on three different day trips: the floating market, the train market and a bike tour. All three were worth the price. We did have one issue with a recommendation one of the employees gave us. We let him book our bus ticket and hostel for our next city. The bus trip was fabulous but the hostel was just mediocre. Lesson learned. I have always done all our booking of our places to stay and I know I could have gotten us a better deal and a nicer place. That was the only downside to our stay there. Neither of us had been to Thailand before and staying in a hostel was a quick way to learn the area and get some good advice. Beth H.
