Hi.

We are Bud and Beth. We sold most of our belongings (stored the rest) and hit the road for one year around the world. Follow our adventure as we go to 26 countries and 45 cities (give or take a few) in one year.

Our hostel stay in Vienna.

In Vienna we spent our 4 nights in a Wombats Hostel. Wombats is a hostel chain of 6 locations. We stayed in one in London and really enjoyed it. We only had 4 nights in Vienna so we decided to try Wombats again and see if it was as good as our first experience.

I absolutely loved it! The place is clean and nicely put together. So many little details they have figured out and made it easier for a traveler. They have a bar with reasonable prices and great music. There are many little lounge areas with pillows and plug in outlets for your electronics. The kitchen is well stocked with all the utensils, pots, pans and even some options of free food. Another benefit is that they have information on things to do in the city and information on lower priced tourist options.  However, the best part is that the atmosphere is so positive, upbeat and fun!

We stayed in a 7 bunk room. The first night our room mates were all girls. I believe they were single travelers. One girl was from South Korea and another was from Australia. The other 3 we never got a chance to talk with. They were all under 30 and looked very comfortable with their travel situation. On our last night we had a whole new set of roommates. We had 5 guys in their late 20’s who were from Brazil and traveling as a group. They were all very polite and nice to chat with.

I enjoy being around so many young, positive people who are out exploring like we are. However, I did notice that in this hostel there was a higher age average then we had in London. Over the 4 days I think at least 20% of the guests were over 45. We also saw a couple who had to be in their 80’s.

So far, hostels have been a great way to save some money. If you are a single traveler they are great, but for a couple who want a private room it may not be as good of a deal. We have found that most times we can stay for less in an Airbnb then in a private room in a hostel.

Following are some pictures of the Wombats hostel we stayed at. Beth
