That little patio on the roof is what sealed the deal! Our Airbnb in Istanbul Turkey.
Our Airbnb in Istanbul was more like a hotel room then an apartment. It was one room with a bathroom and only a small refrigerator. Luckily only a few doors away we went to a small café that served a Turkish breakfast. A Turkish breakfast is a few pieces of cheese, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers and some bread. I had never considered anything like that as a breakfast but it was a great way to start the day. The owner of the shop was a very nice soft spoken man who had recently opened the café. He was the man that told us one morning that the government had shut down all the social media while they arrested another part of the government that they didn’t agree with. I think it was at that moment that it truly hit me how one man can turn a country upside down. Turkey was once a democracy with a healthy economy. Today, Turkey is struggling with a leader who is slowly destroying their democracy and their economy is struggling. I hope they find a path back to safety so I can come back someday and enjoy another Turkish breakfast. Beth
