Hi.

We are Bud and Beth. We sold most of our belongings (stored the rest) and hit the road for one year around the world. Follow our adventure as we go to 26 countries and 45 cities (give or take a few) in one year.

More art in Florence! Street art!

More art in Florence! Street art!

While wandering around Florence we ran into several pieces of one of my favorite street artist, Clet Abraham. Celt is known for adding art to street signs without obstructing its meaning. He uses vinyl stickers to alter the image of a public sign without causing damage to the sign. Chet’s unique sign additions are fun, usually funny and pop up throughout most major European cities.

Wall art was a little harder to find but, we ran into some by the artist Blub who does some fun pieces altering museum masterpieces by adding a swimming mask. Blub’s art are paste ups so they don’t tend to last as long. We also found some by some unknown artists that I wish I could give credit too. An artist that signs their pieces with K was another example of fun but simple street art. Also, another person is doing paste ups of newspaper cutouts that I thought was a unique style.

We enjoy the break from the stuffiness of museums and seeing the less refined art that is free to the public. Street art tours are a great way to see a city and view the works of contemporary artists. Each city that we have taken these tours has been full of a broad range age group of curious customers. We didn’t find any street art tours in Florence but hopefully some entrepreneur is out there creating one now.  Beth
