Our first few days in Rome Italy, here is what we saw.
Our first tourist stop in Rome was a local bus ride to the Old Town area. We wander through several minor plaza’s and check out the stunning Trevi fountain and sit on the Spanish steps to watch the tourist go by. Bud & Beth

The day at the Coliseum was an amazing adventure. Walking the ruins that were built in in 72-80 AD is hard to describe. Much of the building is gone because of the sack of Rome, earthquakes, hundreds of years of neglect and then generations of Romans re-using some of the materials for newer construction projects. What is left is still stunning and hard to believe that in 80 AD the Romans constructed a Coliseum that could hold appox 60,000 people and be filled or emptied in 20 minutes. The Romans were amazing engineers. Bud & Beth

We spent a wonderful afternoon renting bikes and riding around the Borghese Gardens. As an inner-city park, it is a tranquil peaceful setting of pretty fountains, many paths for wandering and a history that dates to 1605. Beth
