AIRBNB IN LONDON ENGLAND
In London England we had to stay further from the city then we typically do. We visited London during the height of their summer tourist season so the price of rentals was high. We opted to stay in a suburb area in order to save a little money.
The area we stayed is a Muslim neighborhood about 30 minutes outside of London by Metro. At first we were a little disappointed that we were so far from the center of London – it was further then we initially thought. After our first day on the Tube (metro line) we no longer had any disappointment. The public transit in London is phenomenal to say the least. It is clean, fast, frequent and safe. Every day we took a 10-minute walk from our flat to the nearest metro line that transported us to different parts of London. We often had to transfer trains but that was not a problem because the 2nd train was always nearby and we never had to wait more than 5 minutes for our connecting train. I am so impressed with their transit system and how it moves so many people around a city without causing traffic delays on the streets above.
We spent $70 a night for a room out in the suburb of London called Layton. The area itself was a little rundown but there are many signs of upcoming transition. Many of the homes were being remodeled or had for sale signs in the window. Our unit was older and had not been remodeled so it was very humble. It was clean but could have used many improvements – new bed, pots and pans with good handles, new bath mats and non-water stained art on the walls. When you consider price, location, condition of the unit – I feel we got a decent deal. We saved a lot of money cooking at home, we were able to do our laundry at home and best of all – we were located near a store very similar to a Walmart with food. We stay always in a downtown area and end up paying higher prices for simple things, it was nice to be in a suburb with a store with a much larger selection and lower prices which was something we had really been missing.
