A perk of Airbnb - we get to meet local friends.
Our Airbnb in Rome was fantastic for a 14 day stay. It was the longest that we have been in one place in the past 6 months. It felt odd to not be packing and unpacking every 6-8 days. Luckily our place came with a washing machine which is a huge luxury now. Since we left on our trip we have only stayed in one place that had a washer and a dryer. From what I can tell, much of the world still hang their clothes out to dry on clothes lines. It may just be because we tend to stay in the older part of town. As of now both Bud and I are accustomed to the rough bath towels that double as loofah scrubs.
A second reason having the nice 14 day stop at this Airbnb was that it was one block away from a small local fruit and vegetable shop. We stopped in just about every day to pick up stuff for dinner. We made some amazing stir-fry dinners with fresh local vegetables. We also met two very nice, fun, hardworking guys from Egypt. Despite working 7 days a week usually from 6am to 9pm they were always in a great mood. They played music, joked with customers and were playfully fun to be around. They each know a little English so we could communicate with them. It was great to see their big smiles every time we walked into their shop. We even became Facebook friends with them. I enjoy how this big world is getting smaller each day as we meet new friends from around the world. Beth (our airbnb cost us $65 a night)
