Hi.

We are Bud and Beth. We sold most of our belongings (stored the rest) and hit the road for one year around the world. Follow our adventure as we go to 26 countries and 45 cities (give or take a few) in one year.

What 14 days in Rome cost us.

What 14 days in Rome cost us.

Rome is a fantastic city to see if you are traveling on a budget. Food is reasonably priced and much of what we saw was either free or a modest fee. I lost track of how many Basilicas and Cathedrals we went into. The city is home to an amazing number of these extremely large ornate, historical buildings of worship. Walking into them was like walking into a history lesson each time. We learned of painters and sculptors from the 1500’s – 1700’s during the Renascence period. We learned of construction architecture over the centuries. We followed the Popes, Roman emperors and their influence through the ages. Each religious building, we walked into was full of names and dates of important times of the past. There were many times we were walking from point A to point B and turned a corner and stumbled into a fantastic place of worship that was hundreds and hundreds of years old. The best part was that just about all these fantastic places were free to visit.  Surprisingly for two people who are not religious, it never got old. Every single one of them was beautiful in one way or another.

Following is what our expenses totaled for our 14 days in Rome. We ate in often but we did have a few good meals out. We walked a lot but we did take the public metro some. We went sightseeing every day and even took a few train rides to towns outside of Rome. We left feeling like we got a good feel for Rome and saw everything we had wanted to see. Following are our final numbers for our visit. Beth
