LISBON & SINTRA PORTUGAL
We were so ready for a city like Lisbon. Cairo, Amman and Casablanca were all amazing in their own special way, but we were ready for a more modern, cleaner and European city. Lisbon has this great sense of old and new.
Lisbon is the capitol of Portugal with a population of 2.7 million. It is considered one of the oldest cities in the world and the oldest in Europe, pre-dating London, Paris and Rome by centuries. Even with the age that dates back to the 8th-6th century BC, Lisbon has a balance of new and modern appeal. The French influence is strong as the Moorish Castle is everlasting. The streets are clean, the people are friendly and the food is amazing.
We were pleasantly surprised with all the sights to see and the modern conveniences available. Transportation is safe and infrastructure is sound. It is a true European city without an extraordinary price.
Our photos show a mashup of a small portion of what we saw in Lisbon and a amazing town 45 minutes away called Sintra. We both have made the comment that this is a city that would be fun to live in. Beth
