HOW MUCH WE SPENT IN CASABLANCA MOROCCO
If we had to do it again, we would have stayed in the Corniche area which is a 15 minute drive to the center of Casablanca. Corniche is a beach town with a upbeat feeling. Casablanca felt less picturesque and more hardcore urban living. Casablanca was less scenic with much less to do.
Part of the reason Casablanca was not as enjoyable was that we had just finished Egypt and Amman and had a few weeks of constant long days of sightseeing in very hot weather - we were just plain tired. Also Casablanca was not as enjoyable because we ended up in a Airbnb that was not as good as past ones. When you don't feel comfortable with where you are staying, it is hard to relax and enjoy your time. The apartment looked great on the Airbnb website but it had only 2 reviews. When we booked it we were rushing and decided to take a chance. That was a mistake. Non working wifi and the place being dirty left us sitting a majority of our time in a coffee shop across the street. The apartment felt safe but it just felt hard to relax there when you felt like you should be cleaning. We have had such fabulous luck with Airbnb that we just got lazy.
We learned an important lesson. Look at the reviews and read them. If everyone one says its cute and cozy, it really means they were grasping at what to say. If a reviewer talks about the host running the Airbnb (like they were helpful, fun, nice, etc) then they more than likely had a good personal experience along with a good place to stay. Of coarse this is just my theory. Beth
